Autumn Candles

It's that time of year again. These years seem to be passing by so quickly now. I am trying to make sure that I enjoy the seasons as they come around. Oh well....

A few weekends ago I took a visit to my favorite candle stores (Yankee Candle and White Barn).  It is autumn now and I need to update my home scents.

The first candle on my list is the Twisted Peppermint.

I adore this scent and get it every year! I am so glad to see them bring it back.
It is a very soft petal scent. Wonderful for the bedroom.

Third is Champagne Toast. This was quite surprising. I actually loved it! The wild berries and tangerine zest is a great combination.

Last and certainly not least is North Pole.
This is my second favorite peppermint candle for the holidays.
I have been burning it already in my office. It is just so delightful!
Well I hope some of my suggestions inspire you to start looking into your favorite autumn candles for the season. And you should start soon because as I said in the beginning these seasons are flying by!

Antique Finds

I have been "pinning away" lately. I am normally not on Pinterest a lot but for some reason I have been inspired.

I have a board on Pinterest called "Antique Finds".  I wanted to share some of my fav pins from this board....

This seems to be the color of the season....

Wonderful idea, an antique table island

19th Century Pink English dinner plates
I found these on One Kings Lane

Vintage Louis Vuitton cases, need I say more.

Simply chic
These pins inspire me to keep antiques in my home along with my other décor. I am learning that antiques can be a great way to bring in unique pieces that are different, valuable and chic. I am sure that there are some of you that feel the same way.
Let's enjoy antiques!

The Magnolia Journal ~Joanna Gaines

Okay, now who isn't a fan of HGTV's The Fixer Upper?  I know I am! I especially love the fact the they now have their own magazine called the Magnolia Journal.

I picked up this copy at our local grocery store. It has great ideas, inspiration, recipes and Joanna's editor page called a Cup O' Jo. In this article she talked about being in the moment and enjoying the journey. I feel like the conversation keeps happening around me. I am doing my best to take heed.
I also love Joanna's work and I look forward to going to Value City Furniture and checking out her new furniture line called Magnolia Home.

I like to call Joanna's style as "country chic". It has a very rustic feel to it but it is incredibly chic.

Oh goodness, I really like this chair. I could see this in a bedroom reading corner with a black or brown table in the middle. A big blue and white vase with white peonies and a lilac shawl draped over the arm of the chair.  Tres chic!

I hope you check out their magazine and website. Their work is truly wonderful!

The New Chanel

Has anyone heard about the New Chanel No. 5? I didn't until a few weeks ago. My family and I were in Macy's because my husband wanted to pick up some new cologne and I looked over and spotted the New Chanel fragrance.

My two bottles at home. The original and the new.
The new fragrance is still very similar to the old. You can still smell the original notes in it. But this new scent has notes of lemon, mandarian, orange, rose and jasmine. The scent is a little "lighter" compared to the original but just as lovely.
If you can you should stop by your local mall and take a whiff. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Unique Blue

Blue and white dinnerware adds such a cheerful note to your home. I love my blue and white plates. They look so smart and striking. That is the way I felt when I saw this collection by Burleigh called Blue Calico.

So delicate isn't it?

It's such a hearty pattern.

"Although producing Blue Calico is a time-consuming process, it is truly a labor of love. Because each piece is made by hand and bears the distinctive touch of an individual decorator, collectors know they are getting one-of-a-kind treasures. At a time when most dishes are mass-produced by machines, it is especially poignant to collect a piece that exemplifies the skills of dedicated craftspeople using a process repeated through many generations."

This is not Blue Calico but this vase sure did remind me of the pattern.
This is my blue and white vase that I picked up at Von Maur earlier this year.
It is pretty large and I love the colors. I had to have it shipped from another store and it
took us weeks to find it. I am so glad we did. I believe this could be a beautiful heirloom some day.
I hope you enjoyed this beautiful collection and if you want to view the original article see here.

A Gracious Kitchen...

Continuing with my small spaces obsession lately I also saw this stupendous 60 square foot kitchen. I could not resist sharing how smart this space really is....

Now where is the fridge you ask?
There are actually refrigerator drawers and freezer drawers under the countertops!

I love the faucet and the apron-front sink.
I love it that everyone is putting artwork in their kitchens.
I may have to visit the flea market soon!

I love the light colored walls and countertop and the tray and baskets from Williams & Sonoma.
I believe that designing a small space takes a lot of creative and patience but once it is finished the beauty that the space can provide is astonishing.

Cottage Love...

My lunch break is a great time for me to sit down enjoy my meal and read. I was reading a spring issue of Country Living magazine and saw the best cottage ever!!!

This home is 125 years old and is only 970 square feet but boy is it lovely.....

I love the gilded mirrors and antique hutch and desk.

What a great way to use space. I love the open cabinets and farm house sink.
I love the fact that she added a chandelier, oil painting and floor length draperies to the kitchen.  So exquisite! Oh and the lamp on the counter in the corner and fresh herbs too! J' dore!

They replaced the bathroom door with a toile curtain.
Very creative....

Can you believe she paid only $10 for her chandelier? She found it at a garage sale!
I love the artwork in her room. It is inspiring....
Blue and white outside? Yes!
Plates on the wall outside? Double yes!
Oh, I hate that this tour ended but it was quite enjoyable.

So beautiful....

Boutique Hotel in Tuscany

I have mentioned numerous times on the blog that my dream is to visit Europe. I am hoping that in another 2 years that dream will come to pass. I mentioned some hotels in Paris a few months ago, see here to read that post.

I recently found this beautiful hotel on Victoria magazine's website. It is absolutely dreamy....

It is called the Borgo Santo Pietro It is breathtaking isn't it?
This is a fully renovated 13th century Tuscan villa.

This room is called the Sir Vincent. Spectacular isn't it? Just look at the mural.
My goodness. So exquisite.

There is an artist workshop.
They have their own honey bees.

And their own farm where all their food comes from.
Honestly, I looks like a dream. You must visit the website and take a look for yourself.
It is truly unforgettable....

Lamp Shopping at Hobby Lobby

I was running a quick errand a few weekends ago and decided to stop in Hobby Lobby. It is a great store for home décor. I wanted to find some faux flowers for my office but didn't see any that I wanted but I did see some great lamps.

I thought these were great. They are called the Cream flower on base lamps.
Very pretty!

Next is the white ceramic pineapple lamp. My favorite!

Very chic!

I hope you enjoyed my short little shopping trip. You never know what items you may find. I always seem to find great things when I am not trying.

Aldo Love...

Oh the goodies this fall are wonderful. I have been finding so many great pieces this season! I have been tremendously excited!

Well, I was walking through the mall (shocker) and what do I see in the front.... a Chanel inspired tote. It was just too lovely to pass up...... I had to go and take a peek..... I mean just a little right?

Beautifully chic, isn't it?
Okay, most of you know I am a sucker for kitten heels and these are just flawless.
The dusty rose color, the perfect size heel. Oh just exquisite!
I have this gorgeous necklace already in blue but this neutral color would be a great addition to my wardrobe. Just lovely, isn't it?
Oh my gosh, I could not say no to these. I purchased these right away.
Just divine....

Tres chic.....
I hope you enjoyed my Aldo finds and check out the site. There maybe some gorgeous pieces waiting for you. I know I maybe going back to pick up the shoes and bag. They are just too lovely to pass up.
And as always, be elegant everyday....
